The Ugly House with the Lavender Door

So this house was not pretty when we first went through it with our realtor.  Ok it was down right disgusting, the house was dirty!!!!!  Brent had a vision that our children would be running around in this house and it would be the perfect layout for entertaining.  I laughed and couldn't see past the two inch thick grim on the handrail.  I could feel my skin crawl with grossness all over my body every second I was in this house.  So we continued our search and looked at more house and every house we looked at was at the top of our budget.  All of the homes needed lots of updating and didn't even fit our requirements.

The requirements:
  1. Both children's bedrooms would have to be on the same level as ours.  In our last home, which was a bi-level raised ranch there were two bedrooms up and two down.  Our son Nixon's bedroom was moved downstairs when our daughter Piper was born almost two years ago.  I really hated the idea that Nixon was in the basement away from us.
  2. The layout had to be a Ranch or Two story (once we started looking at houses we realized the two story layout was for us).
  3. The layout had to be a open floor plan for entertaining.
  4. A fireplace is a plus!!!
  5. Good bones/structure.
  6. At least a one acre wooded lot.
So if I start from the beginning or should I say the end.   The end of last year a few days before Christmas Brent and I made an appointment with a realtor to decided if we were going to put our house up for sale.  After Brent and I tossed and turned with the pros and cons of selling our first house and buying our forever house.  We decided to take the plunge, and our house sold exactly 60 days after being on the market which our realtor promised.  My house just sold!!!!!!  But we haven't found our forever house yet.  So in our purchase agreement we asked for an added 30 days of possession after close.   Thank goodness we have a little time oh, wait did I tell you that we also already planned and payed for a trip to Disney.  And yes, we were leaving in two weeks.  My anxiety was high and my stomach was boiling with an ulcer.  So we where on the hunt for our forever house and that is when we went through this house.  On the market for a week and beyond dirty and stinky.  We had to schedule another appointment to go through this house a second time because I could not see past the grim.  As I started to stress I told Brent I wanted to build our forever house.  He wasn't sure if that was the route he wanted to take, as building was just as or more stressful than renovations. He also did not want to move twice and find a temporarily place to rent.  Brent also thought that my forever house with the location I wanted would make us house poor.  I didn't listen and called several builders and described the layout that we loved, which is the ugly house with the lavender door.  The prices they quoted me for a similar floor plan on my forever house would have made us house poor.  So we decided to make an offer on the ugly house with the lavender door.  After going back and forth during negotiations on price the ugly house with the lavender door was going to be ours.  It's a good thing we had a vision and a dream because this house needed to be loved or what my realtor called Kerrified.
